Yesterday we went into Exeter, mainly to go to the history workshop at St Nicholas Priory, as well as picking up a few things in the town centre.

It was a scorching hot day, and after we had finished our shopping, we skipped The Priory, as we wanted to stay outside and enjoy the sunshine, so we headed off to the river to have our lunch, feed the ducks and visit our home ed friends.

Had a really nice time, our friends live right beside the river, so we were able to go for a walk and saw two swans nests and we fed the  little cygnets.

Also at their house they have a blackbirds nest, very low down in a bush outside their back door, and we managed to get a peek at the chicks (will post photos later).

We were having a cup of tea when all of a sudden a strange burning smell came wafting into the living room, we went outside where James shouted "Fire, quick get Fireman Sam" and we looked across the river and there was smoke billowing out over the river.

Well it made headline news  here.

So after all the excitement, we then went to my parents house for tea, where we met Mike, and then off home.
