As I have a Home Ed Diary blog (although I do go on about lots of other stuff on there too) I have decided to have a blog about looking after a toddler/pre-schooler/pre-homeschooler/ but as I like to call him, my little duck.
It is,I feel, harder looking after James than it is to teach a 11 and 9 year old at home, so I would like to keep a record of it here.
So:-
Today - (well yesterday - is gone midnight - must sleep soon).
James wakes up around 7ish each day, as Mike has been home this past few months, he usually goes downstairs with him, has his medication, then some toast and tea, then sits on the sofa with his dad, under a blanket watching Peppa Pig.
By the time I have showered and dressed, he has moved on from the TV (thankfully) and onto his toys.
Then his brother and sister wake up, and we all have breakfast together (James;s 2 second sitting).
Then we attempt to get him dressed, which he is a battle, but once he has decided that he will allow us to get him dressed, he then decides to do it all by himself, and he seems to be doing this quite well.
Then our day begins - today he has been to the big library, played on the little childrens computer, had a ride on the old rocking horse and screamed blue murder when we had to leave.
He had a lovely time on the bus, pointing out all the different animals as we rode through the countryside, and singing various songs.
He ate all his lunch, with the encouragement of his brother, which I do love to see. Napped PM.
Late afternoon into the evening we have been crafting, first with Mike, then me then Becky. Glueing pom poms, and stenciling. Glue everywhere of course.
We have read The Three Little Pigs, The Enormous Turnip (read by Becky), Ducks and Ducklings (read by both me and Mike several times - his new favourite book) and Daddy Pig loses his glasses, Peppa Pig, both me and Mike again.
He has learnt a new song, doesnt quite know all the words yet, "Teddy Bears Picnic". Also loves the song "Five little Ducks" which is helping him with his counting.
Not too bad with the TV today, just a bit this morning about 20 minutes worth of Peppa Pig,and Grandpa in my Pocket this evening.
Has played mainly with Beckys dolls house today, also the marble run (knocks this down after about 5 minutes) and played on the keyboard and danced to the intro.
I do worry about his attention span, I keep hearing that it is normal for his age, but I cannot remember the other two being like this, and I do sometimes get panicky about it being to do with his meds, or the Epilepsy itself. Time will tell I suppose.
Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow,so he can have lots of outside time, which he really loves.
Blessings
