Halloween Countdown, Allotments and Autumn Wet Weather

As a family we seem to be  settling into a routine this Autumn, with both the older children getting into their studying, B continuing with her part time job, rugby season well on its way and time to start planning for Autumnal activities.

Home Ed with J hasn't gone exactly as planned.  Having had an appointment with his specialist earlier in the month, all seems to be going well with him being weaned off of is medication.  It is to early to say, and we have to take it one day at a time, but nothing happening at the moment is of course a good thing.

We do however have to be on alert, especially over the next three months as his specialist has told us that he is at high risk of having a seizure.  We have to be cautious for up to a year, but each month that goes by the less likely he is to have a seizure.

So we have been taking it easy, staying at home  a lot, crafting, painting watching lots of films and reading.  He is very excited about Halloween, so I made him a countdown treat calendar:-

Each cup contains a Halloween treat.

He has also made lanterns

He has also made lots of pumpkin decorations out of paper plates.

Have a few printables  for J to look at next week

Our postcard swap is going well, we have sent quite a few to various countries, and received interesting cards too.

We pin each one onto the world map.

On Friday we went to look at a allotment, which is nearby, and decided on taking up half a plot.  J is very excited at this, as am I, and although it is a bit overgrown, it is manageable.  The lady who showed us around talked to us about Home Education, and was very enthusiastic about J learning all sorts of things through gardening.

Already we have had a discussion, on our way to Tesco, about the different fruits we could try and grow, and had a little game of "tree or ground" where J had to guess how the fruit was grown.  Also discussed that some fruits grow in different countries, and decided that when we got to the supermarket we would have a look at the different fruits.

(have to say, we looked at kiwis and melons, and then he got distracted by the toy sale aisle)

Have found this online though, looks quite good.

We  are also planning on going to a local farm for Apple Day next week.

Back to today - very wet and windy outside, lovely weather for standing on a rugby field right next to the moor to watch my son play rugby :-)
